Our formula allows smaller, though more technologically-advanced, nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones. Modifiers (in the form of bonuses and penalties) are added to further refine the list. Some items to observe in regards to the finalized ranking:

+ Ranking does not simply rely on the total number of weapons available to any one country but rather focuses on weapon diversity within the number totals to provide a better balance of firepower available (i.e. fielding 100 minesweepers does not equal the strategic and tactical value of fielding 10 aircraft carriers).
+ Nuclear stockpiles are NOT taken into account but recognized / suspected nuclear powers receive a bonus.
+ Geographical factors, logistical flexibility, natural resources and local industry influence the final ranking.
+ Available manpower is a key consideration; nations with large populations tend to rank higher.
+ Land-locked nations are NOT penalized for lack of a navy; naval powers ARE penalized for lack of diversity in available assets.
+ NATO allies receive a slight bonus due to the theoretical sharing of resources.
+ Current political / military leadership is NOT taken into account.

The Doing Business index is a ranking index system, created by the World Bank Group, which indicates the regularity environment of businesses.  A higher ranking, which is indicated by a lower numerical value, specifies a stronger protection of property rights, and visa versa.
The World Bank has annually been measuring the quality of worldwide business environments, for the past fifteen years, with its Doing Business ranking system.  Over 190 economies have been scrutinized on criteria including:  electrification and ease of business creation, the tax burden and the protection of property rights.
Doing Business measures regulations of the labour market (which has not been included in this year’s ranking) and for eleven areas in the life cycle of a business.  Ten of these areas have been included in this year’s ranking on the “ease of doing business”.  They are:

• Starting a business.
• Obtaining a building permit.
• Connecting to electricity.
• Transferring ownership.
• Getting credits.
• Protecting minority investors.
• Payment of taxes.
• Cross-border trading.
• Enforcing contracts.
• Resolving insolvency.

The factors are set within our algorithm which attempts to provide a fair canvas that allows smaller, yet technologically-advanced powers to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones. Ethiopia defends South Africa over attempts to arrest Bashir

Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on Thursday defended the rejection of the South African government to arrest and hand over Sudanese president, Omer Hassan al-Bashir, to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to the Sudan Tribune Mr Desalegn said the attempt to arrest the Sudanese president was instigated by non-governmental organizations and not the South African government.
The South African government came under pressure earlier in the week from rights groups, ICC and international community to deliver Bashir to the war crimes court in response to two arrest warrants issued against him since 2009 and 2010.
Mr Desalegn expressed his views on the whole Bashir situation in a meeting with a visiting Sudanese media delegation.
Desalagne added that the South African government wasn’t cooperating with the ICC to arrest the Sudanese President as some reports speculated.

አቶ መለስ በጓዶቻቸው ቋንቋ “ተሰው” ከተባለበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ ምክትል ጠ/ሚኒስትር የነበሩትን አቶ ሃይለማርያም ደሳለኝን ለመተካት ተቸግሮ ነበር። ደህንነቱን፣ መከላከያውን፣ ፖሊስና ዋንኛ የአገሪቱን ተቋማት ጠቅልሎ የያዘው ህወሃት በቀጥታ አሜሪካ ባደረገችው ጫና ሳይወድ በግዱ አቶ ሃይለማርያምን በጠ/ሚኒስትርነት ለመሰየም ተገደደ። የስልጣን ክፍተቱን በተመለከተ አቻ ድርጅቶችና ህወሃት ውስጥ አለመግባባት ተፈጥሮ ስለነበር “ምደባ” በሚል ኢትዮጵያ በደቦ የሚመሯት አራት ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሮች ተሰየሙላት።

የተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት አሰራር ፈተና ላይ ወድቋል!

ከተመሰረተ ስልሳ አምስት አመቱን ያስቆጠረው የተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት፣ አለምአቀፋዊ ተቋምነቱ እና የብዙዎችን ይሁንታ ያገኘበት ሀላፊነቱ በተግባር በሚያከናውነው ስራ አንፃር ሲመዘን ጥያቄ ላይ የወደቀ ድርጅት ነው፡፡ አሁን በሀላፊነት ላይ ያሉት የመንግስታቱ ድርጅት ዋና ፀሀፊ ባን ኪ ሙን የመንግስታቱን ድርጅት የመለወጥ ሀሳብ በተደጋጋሚ ያነሳሉ፡፡ ነገር ግን፣ ድርጅቱን በዋና ፀሀፊነት ካገለገሉ ስምንት ሰዎች ውስጥ አንዱ ብቻ ናቸው ስለ ለውጥ ምንም ተናግረው የማያውቁት፡፡ የተወሰኑ ለውጦች በተለያዩ ጊዜዎች የተደረጉ ቢሆንም፣ በዋና ዋና ጉዳዮች ላይ ግን ምንም አይነት ለውጥ አለመደረጉ ጥያቄዎቹ ከጊዜ ወደ ጊዜ እንዲበረቱ አድርጓል፡፡
በድርጅቱ ላይ የሚነሱ ጥያቄዎች የአባል አገሮቹን ያህል የበዛ እና የተወሳሰበ ቢሆንም፣ በማሻሻያዎቹ ላይ ጥናት ያደረገው ዛክ ቱከር፣ ጥያቄዎቹን በሶስት ዋና ዋና ምድቦች ይከፍላቸዋል።
